The NYC Trans Oral History Project is a collective, community-based archive of transgender life in New York, founded in 2014 and built in partnership with the New York Public Library and local community groups.

Co-Founder and academic Abram J. Lewis and Project Coordinator and artist Aviva Silverman discuss the meaning and significance of building this radical archive with Dao X. Tran, whose work with Voice of Witness supports social justice movements through the collection and publication of oral histories. This panel opens with a reading from interdisciplinary artist, writer, and organizer Early Shinada, converging collective moments of witness around live relays of history.
